Hi everyone. Last night I parked in the IGA parking lot as usual and got a parking ticket from Diamond Parking. Has anyone else gotten the same thing? I've always parked there and had no problems. Did they start doing this recently?

nope. I always park at the Grant MacEwan student parking and never had any issues with that. I didn't even know they COULD give you a ticket for parking in an empty parking lot.

they recently put up new signs. I would suggest avoiding the IGA parking lot cause i do believe they now monitor it. Have to figure out where that student parking is!

I've always just parked on the street - perhaps because I can't stand the thought of another ticket...

Thanks for the heads up.
Yes private parking lots have the right to ticket and tow non customers. Looks like IGA is starting to enforce it's perogative.
Nait has this right too so be carefull.

Since we are using space in the mall, don't we have the ability to park out front? I mean, we're technically customers. Ok, it's a bit further to walk, but since the alternative is parking on the street (not always feasible, thanks GMCC) or in the IGA lot, I'd try parking out there next.

I think there has always been an unspoken understanding with GMCC that if they are hosting an event that night, we don't park in their parking lot. i could be wrong, but that is just a thought...

IGA is mostly coked at GMCC, for using lots of the parking, We could ask IGA if we could make a deal with them. Perhaps we could entice IGA with a few parking slots, we buy our drinks from them. Could ask them to sell us snacks at wholesale, Bars and such. They also have a nice little bakery, we could do platters for our events. I'm sure if we spent a few hundred a month at the store, parking would not be an issue.

valid suggestion - I second
read the signs - i think main lot is all the time and the lots closest to us that face the street is only during week
