So no one seems to be talking about this but my fundraiser was a flop and the quick fix idea of OotB was a flop...
The place is rented until the end of the year at which point I get the impression Nick will not be keeping it unless something happens quick.
Are we going to do anything about this at all or just let it fade away?

I have a number of ideas for events that I am currently preparing for and hope will be successful in order to save the Warriors of Time Gaming Club. These are the following events. If any of you are interested in them, please reply to me with which ones you would be interested in attending. Note that the prices may be steep for some, but the money goes towards, fundraising as well as door prizes, awards, table rental, etc. Nothing is free, but if pay for something, you get something in return.
24 September 2011 Hordemachine Tournament $40 08 October 2011 Galactic Gladiator (GLAGLAD) Tournament $25 29 October 2011 Halloween Howler Party (games will horror related, such as Mansions of Madness) $20 12 November 2011 Flames of War Tournament $40 (TBC) 10 December 2011 Christmas Party $20 (TBC) 11 February 2012 Valentine’s Day Massacre Tournament (Fantasy based combat) $30-40 (TBC) 10 March 2012 March Madness 04 May 2012 “May The Fourth Be With You” Star Wars Tournament (using star wars minis rules) $30-40 (TBC)
If I do not get any replies to any of these, other than from the people I already know are interested in Hordesmachine and Galactic Gladiator (GALGLAD), then I know that we are lost. We need at least 8 players for each of these tournaments to make it work. At least you are not just paying for the fundraising but also paying to play in a tournament. Your choice.
Warren

That may be so, but if not and things improve between now and end December, I plan to organize those events if people are interested.

Can someone remind me what is actually needed to address the issues, or perhaps just point me towards the original thread.
thanks

Well you can first check out General Board for HallWay Floor, which begins to explain the problem with the basement. Then you can check out the Events section for Save the Basement, which was macmurraymaniac trying to get a WH40K and Fantasy fundraising tournament going to support the Warriors of Time Game Club. And you have already read these threads. Enjoy.

1. The basic issue is there is a crack in the foundation that allows water into the club; the water flows down the hallway out into the gaming area and eventually drains to the sump; by flowing this way it has ruined much of the laminate flooring that was installed last year.
2. The landlord will not fix the crack ($10k) but will chip in $1k if we want to create some sort of way to dam and divert the water so the basement is not wet. The total cost of this project is $3k, meaning we would need to cover $2k. Nick and Reme have indicated they will not be paying for further renovations thus it is up to the various users to generate the cash.
3. We have had several attempts to organize tournaments and events to generate extra coin with limited success. One consequence of not raising the money is that the room could close (although I have not heard anything to that effect--just some speculation).
Our club (historical guys on Tuesday) have chatted about this. There is some interest in helping financially, perhaps by organizing an auction. We have not gone beyond a general discussion as I'm awaiting a reply from Nick to my emails on the subject.
I hope that helps clarify things.
thanks kindly,
Bob

Thanks bob
you summed it up nicely
Planning a meeting Oct 22th 6:30pm at club
General discussion in person of what we can do. Some plans already set in motion to keep club going!! Short term plans so we need some longer plan solutions. Bring your thinking caps!!
We've had warren and brian and Danny from guns guts and glory step up and run some fundraisers. Thank you guys.
I will be running a sealed deck L5R ccg tourny for those who want to try the game - check out the particulars in events forum.
Please also check out Galglad that warren is running. I think warren has quite a little ruleset for this game going - worth checking out. He's even supplied prizes for the event.

Thanks for the pointers to earlier info and for the summary Bob. I get it now.
$2k for a dam(n) water solution that presumably contains the wet smell also.
Has much been raised so far?
I see a conflict for me for Oct 22, but might be able to work it out.

About $160 as far as I can tell. The Tuesday a guys have been talking about an auction. I'll see what the consensus is at the club on Tuesday.

We have raised $160 so far from the Hordesmachine Tournament. The next fundraising tourney is on October 8th from 1pm to about 8pm at latest. Right now I have about 8 players which amounts to no more than two full Tables. There should be room if Anybody is doing the onslaught gaming that day

Okay, so the Tuesday historical club is going to host an auction in November to raise funds to help with the flooring. More details as we get it together but tentative the third Tuesday of November from 7-8:30. All are welcome to donate stuff and/or come out to buy.

Do you have anymore details about your Flames of War tourney happening in November? I'm definitely interested but it depends on whether my wife is going to the states for her cousins wedding (as if she is not, I need to be around for my sons 2nd birthday which just happens to coincide). Also, Stuart El is hosting a tournament in Calgary the same day, so you may wish to coordinate with him as you may be losing a fair # of players to the Calgary tournament. Anyway, a few questions: 1) How many games? 2) What period (I'm assuming LW)? 3) How many points (1750 seems to be the norm around Edmonton) 4) What do you need for histories and what are "valid" lists to play You may also want to try and contact BF to make it an official tourney or post it on this forum to get more potential players. I'll talk to the people that I know and see if they are interested in attending, but more info is needed and soon (it's only like a month away!) fowcanada.forumotion.ca/

So, is the Flames tourney a go or not? I have at least one other person interested in playing along with myself, so that makes 2, but haven't really chatted with my other buddies. It is critical that I know whether it is going or not as if it is not, I will go down to Calgary to play in the tournament being held there the same day but am rapidly running out of time to register!
