Is there anybody out there in the Edmonton area at least that has 15mm sci fi minis and has possibly played Critical Mass Games (CMG) or Gruntz game systems. I am looking for more players. Even if you do not have any and are interested, I have at least 6 different races with sizeable armies to choose from. CMG uses a multibase system like Flames of War. Gruntz uses single mini bases. I have played CMG several times and the rules are very good to play. I am going to also try Gruntz, but would like to know if there is any interest from anybody. Let me know.

I have not heard of those specific systems. I did play in a game of 15mm (or maybe it was 10mm with guys in big armored suits) Sci-fi game of FUBAR a couple of months ago as a playtest for a game that was going to be run at FallCon. I think that system worked pretty well, but I don't have any sci-fi in that scale.

I have read a little about FUBAR, but that's about it. That's the problem with 15mm minis. The only store that really sells any in significant numbers is Calgary, but it is only historical or fantasy 15mm minis, not sci fi. So I have to get them online at places like Critical Mass Games, Ground Zero Games, Khurasan Miniatures and Rebel Minis. Critical Mass Games even has buildings made for two of the four main races. I only have the human buildings right now, but hopefully can get the other buildings, whcih look like pyramids, and can be separated to play multilevel in them.

Well, in the last two hours I have looked at the FUBAR game and its many supplements. It is a very simple game mechanic using d6 dice. The rules are two pages long, if you add the morale supplement. I would enjoy playing this with 15mm or 28mm minis. I feel that it is good for quick skirmish battles, and could even work for larger unit battles with 15mm. It does not have much in the way of special abilities for any of the races/units, which also does not slow down play by remembering all of the abilities. Some of the FUBAR gamers have provided colorful unit cards for Star Wars Episode 4-6, Clone Wars, Starship Troopers, and WH40K. So you don't ahve to write down the stats for your units if playing with those minis. Just print the cards and you are ready to play. If you want a quick fun game whether on a battlefield or in close confines such as a starship or buildings, then FUBAR is it. If you want a fun skirmish game with some special abilities added on to your units, and damage points applied to vehicles, Gruntz is it. If you want a company level game that is still easy to play, but adds more detail and abilities to your units, but downplays the detail in vehicle damage, then CMG is it. Any of these games use a d6 system, and I would gladly play any of them.
